Come spend the afternoon with Piper Grant as we learn the fundamentals of acrylic painting!
Spend a day with Piper Grant as we learn the fundamentals of oil painting.
We will:Talk about what makes oil paint different from other materials
Create a 9 step value scale by picking a primary color and learning to tint with white and then shade with black.
Learn how light changes value over a 3 dimensional object.
Demonstration of a cube, with student practice
Demonstration of a cylinder, with student practice
Demonstration of a sphere, with student practice
If time allows we will do a group still life of monochromatic solid objects.
All materials are included for use during this class and there will be a supply list provided to purchase materials to take home.There are no prerequisites for this course.
This is a fundamentals class and the concepts we cover will be used in later classes as we continue to explore this classic medium.
An option to order a boxed lunch from The Mercantile will be available.
Introduction to Oil Painting
Spend an afternoon with Piper Grant as we learn the fundamentals of acrylic painting.
What to Expect:
Demonstration of Materials
Color Wheel Lesson and Practice (hue and saturation)
Complementary Color practice
Students draw their favorite fruit
Once drawn, they will begin a complimentary color painting (red fruit/ green background, orange fruit/blue background etc)
To add 3 dimensionality to their fruit paintings, students will shade with complementary color to darken and desaturate the shadows.
If time Allows, we will talk about triadic color schemes and paint that scheme into geometric patterns.
All materials are included for use during this class and there will be a supply list provided to purchase materials to take home.
